There's a favorite and then there's the challenger. I've always found myself backing the challenger and not the favorite. Be it sports or movies.

There's a movie in which Manoj Bajpai played the villan and as usual in movies, the good guy gets the girl. Though the movie wouldnt work if Bajpai had got the girl (not that it did), i had this urge that Bajpai should have got the girl. No particular reason, just felt like that. Maybe I sympathize a little more than i should.

Federer was the favorite when he was facing marat safin in the Australian Open and though his tennis is almost flawless, i wanted safin to win. He did and it was one of the best matches i had witnessed. The same followed in the Australia/South Africa cricket match where i was cheering south africa and they chased a mammoth 400+ target.

So if you are a challenger , I'll back you i guess.
